3.10 Pre-election protocols
During the pre-election period (three months before the elections), members standing for re-election have two roles. The first role is to make decisions for their community and the second is as a candidate running their personal capacity as a candidate running for elected office.
Elected members must follow the council’s Local Government Election Year Policy for Elected Members. This requires that elected members do not use council resources for election campaigns. This also ensures that a clear distinction is drawn between their two roles.
